Darlisia Lyles is a native of Birmingham, Alabama where she learned to play the piano at the age of 5 and the violin at the age of 9.  Darlisia continued to perform in numerous intermediate orchestras in middle school and started high school at the Alabama School of Fine Arts.  During her time in high school she participated in the school symphony and the Alabama Youth Symphony from 9th though the 12th grades.   Because Darlisia loved marching band which was not offered at the fine art school, she transferred to Jackson-Olin High School to get the marching band experience.  Darlisia became the trombone section leader in the 11th grade and continued that position until she graduated.

Darlisia received a full scholarship for violin from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama where she received her Bachelor's and Masters degrees in P-12 Instrumental Music Education.  Darlisia has always had a passion for teaching children and performing.  During her time at Garrett Middle School she plans to continue to build the orchestra program and give the students as much musical exposure she possibly can.
