ABOUT US

Garrett Middle School Chorus is all about building a foundation of musical knowledge and skills that students can continue to build on and enjoy the rest of their lives.  We strive to learn challenging music that pushes the students to engage in new forms of expression and to work both independently and collaboratively toward a single, beautiful goal.

Jacob Furse, originally from Conyers, Ga, grew up involved in music from the time he could walk, and has performed in nearly every type of ensemble imaginable.  After graduating High School with more Performing Arts credits than academic ones, he attended Georgia Southern University, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a Choral emphasis.

Mr. Furse is a trained Opera singer with a passion for Musical Theatre and Rap, and it's not uncommon to hear a very eclectic playlist blasting from his classroom at any time of day.  He specializes in trying to blend all musical genres and interests together to tell the most interesting story.

What We Do

Below are some video examples of the type of thing we'll learn to do in Chorus.  In 6th grade we focus on the basics of singing and how to put our voices together to create the best possible sound.
